Prudential Committee Minutes 1/12/25

Members Present: Dennis Carman; Steven Delano; David Greene; Karen Hong; Myron Winders; Ginny Sears.  Absent: Pastor Allan; Stephenie Jones.

 

Meeting Called to Order at 12 30 pm

 

Opening Prayer given by Dave Greene

 

Clerk’s Report -as presented; motion Myron accept as printed  by 2nd by Steve Delano; So voted to be posted after the meeting. Going forward clerk will be getting them on chapel website.Treasurer's Report – has finally been able to access Rockland Trust account. Everything balanced.  $1485.80 is still under PayPal – Steve will go on to Rockland Trust portal to find the transaction.  Overall, Steve stated that at year end it does not look too bad. Motion by Karen Hong to accept;  2nd by Myron Winders; So voted.

 

Pastor’s Report – asking new members to join; no one has come forward yet.  Bob asked if perhaps Pastor Allan could send an email regarding new membership.

 

Ongoing Business –


  • Recap - Future Energy – Tabled – Bob Sears briefly touched on proposal.  We need to speak with a land attorney; then check with the insurance company for our liabilities; Bob states we need to let future energy know we are thinking of it.  (Also, how heavy is the crane that moves batteries?)  Check with pastor regarding attorney; contacting company we are still interested and to see if we are okay with insurance company.  Ginny could contact church mutual regarding same; Dave Greene added that many churches are declining in their attendance, however, Silver Lake Chapel has been stable.  Dave thought income from battery storage would be good for future financial status of church. Are there other companies running battery storage.  – Steve mentioned the  Kingston recycling center; Karen was asked if she could contact them to see what their contract says.

 

  • Republic Services –trash pickups – Steve set up on call from now on.  $25 to rent container - $90 to empty it. 

 

  • Church Suppers / Woodlands  - volunteers to head up these functions – Tabled

 

  • Roll Call Board – update – Tabled

 

  • Door locks and keys – crash bars tabled until after annual meeting

 

New Business –

 

  • Snow Removal – motion to hire Garret Gage to do  chapel parking lot by Dave Greene; 2nd Karen Hong; so voted.

 

  • Myron asked about the congregational flag being torn; Ginny stated she could take it down and remove torn area and re-hem it.

 

  • 2025 budget – Noticed that Sexton salary did not match 2024 proposed.  Steve stated he could backdate a check for the difference for Scott. Steve stated that he would be willing to do quarterly financial statements for Prudential.  Steve will email out income for last years amounts. Noted several line items had increased substantially and need to check out why.  Dennis Carman will contact First Congregational Church in Hanson regarding their insurance   costs. 

 

Dennis suggested a 5-year income/expense statement –

pulling from annual reports – to have available at our next meeting.

We were able to put 2025 proposed budget figures together and brought our total proposed budget to $100,185.00

 

No other New Business
